'Forecast for Tuesday 24th through to Thursday 26th December
Donegal and Dublin Bay will have very differing conditions over the festive period. Calm and relatively warm will be the prevailing conditions for Dublin with nothing in the way of surf. Donegal Bay by contrast will have lots of swell and wind. Both sides of the country will have temperatures in and around 12 degrees celsius - so sadly not much hope of a white Christmas. Merry Christmas to all and here's to a surf and wind rich 2025!

-
Tuesday: 12-23 knots from the WSW in the morning dropping off from around lunch time on. Best to get on it early.
-

Surf Forecast
-
Tuesday: Decent sized swell building from 3.2 metres at 11 seconds all the way to 4.3 metres at 16 seconds by 5pm. Winds will be from the SSW for the whole time and reasonably strong. There will definitely be waves on offer. Just might have to hunt out some more sheltered spots in the afternoon.
-
Wednesday: 3.8 metres at 14 seconds from the WNW dropping slightly through the day. Winds will be southerly with a touch of west in them. There will definitely be waves to be had but again you might have to hunt out sheltered spots.
-
Thursday: 3.8 metres at 16 seconds from the north west. Winds from the south east. Plenty of swell and generally a good direction for this part of the world but most of us will need to find a sheltered spot given the size of the swell.
Wind Forecast
-
Tuesday: 17-26 knots from the SSW for much of the day. Good conditions to be had!
-
Wednesday: 17-26 knots from the SSW through much of the day. Another great day to get on the water.
-
Thursday: 10-15 knots from the south east. Not amazing but maybe enough to get out on foil.
NB: This is all subject to change at short notice. This being Ireland weather systems are volatile and a forecast made even the night before can change over night. Hopefully this forecast blog can give a good prediction of what will happen in the days ahead so you can plan the days you look to go on the water but it is always a good idea to check more location specific forecasting models before you go both to know what equipment to bring and for safety.
