Forecast for Friday 25th April through to Monday 28th April
Warmer weather for the weekend with wind in Dublin and Donegal bay. Surf will be short on the ground in Dublin but Donegal bay will have smaller beginner intermediate friendly waves all weekend. Weather turns more settled in the week ahead with some Summer weather to look forward to.
East Coast – Dublin Area
Surf Forecast
-
Friday: In the afternoon a south east wind swell will build to reach 1.2 metres at 5 seconds by 2pm. This will be accompanied by south east winds. Unlikely to be enough to get much going in Dublin bay but likely enough to generate some beginner friendly waves down in Wicklow.
-
Saturday: Not much today.
-
Sunday: Not a lot of swell today. Best bet for small beginners waves would be down in Wicklow.
-
Monday: No waves today.
Wind Forecast
-
Friday: 13-23 knots from the south east for much of the day starting to drop off at around 4pm. Fun conditions for windsurf, kite or wing.
-
Saturday: The afternoon will see some wind after a windless morning. An ESE wind will reach 9-15 knots at around 3pm and build to 11-17 knots by 5pm before dropping off. Should be enough for big gear or foil powered craft.
-
Sunday: Best of the wind will be between 1pm and 5pm. 10-18 knots from the SSW. Should be fun conditions.
-
Monday: Not a lot of wind in the morning but at around 1pm things will pick up with a south east wind reaching 13-21 knots by 3pm. Temperatures will be up in the high teens too. Looks like a great forecast.

Surf Forecast
-
Friday: 1.3 metre west swell at 13 seconds. Winds will be from the SSE. On exposed beaches there should be waves all day.

-
Sunday: 1.6 metre west swell with southerly winds turning into the SSW from 3pm on. Not a big swell but there should be something - waves will be biggest at spots that pick up west and even south swells.
-
Monday: Small west swell with south to SSE winds. There will be clean beginner friendly waves on many beaches in Donegal bay with the best being at Tullan Strand.
Wind Forecast
-
Friday: 13-20 knots form the SSE at 8am dropping off from 12 noon. Best to get on it early.

NB: This is all subject to change at short notice. This being Ireland weather systems are volatile and a forecast made even the night before can change over night. Hopefully this forecast blog can give a good prediction of what will happen in the days ahead so you can plan the days you look to go on the water but it is always a good idea to check more location specific forecasting models before you go both to know what equipment to bring and for safety.
